Nervecentre Messaging allows
Using messages and chat rooms in Nervecentre provides
About shared inboxes, shared folders, and distribution lists
You can send messages to shared inboxes, and distribution lists.

When you send a message to a shared inbox, one message is sent to the shared inbox, and each member of the inbox can view that one message.
-
When you send a message to a distribution list, each member of the list receives a copy of the message in their personal inbox.
You can move messages to shared inboxes, and shared folders. Anyone with access to the shared inbox, or shared folder, can view the message.

On a desktop, depending on your permissions, you can manage who is on a distribution list, and who has access to a shared inbox, or a shared folder.

Types of recipient
When you send a message, you can choose the recipient. When you start to type the name of the recipient, a list of recipients appears. A symbol displays next to the name of each recipient.

A favourite recipient. Nervecentre automatically promotes people, distribution lists, and shared inboxes to be favourite recipients when you frequently send messages to them. On a desktop, depending on your permissions, you can manage your favourite recipients. |

A shared inbox that one or more people can access. Nervecentre sends one message to the shared inbox. |
|
|
A distribution list that contains one or more recipients. Nervecentre sends a message to each recipient in the distribution list. |
|
|
An individual recipient. Nervecentre sends a message to their inbox. |
About messaging on a mobile
On a mobile, you can:

Send, receive, and manage messages and contribute to chat room threads
-
Tell Nervecentre to send you messages about clinical activities recorded for a specific patient
Most of these tasks you can do from Messaging.
About unread messages
When you have a message or update in a chat room that you haven't yet read:

On iOS, Nervecentre displays in the navigation menu.

On Android, Nervecentre displays n New in the navigation menu, where n is the total number of unread messages and updates.
About notifications
On a mobile, when you receive a message or an update in a chat room:

Your mobile device vibrates

Nervecentre displays on iOS, and n New on Android, in the navigation menu
You don't get a notification as you do on a desktop.
Tasks and alerts do display notifications on a mobile, but not on a desktop.
Overview of Messaging on iOS
From Messaging, you can view and manage messages and chat rooms.
Chat
From Messaging > Chat, you can create chat rooms, and view and update chat room threads, including those associated with watched patients.

About messaging on a desktop
On a desktop, you can:

Send, receive, and manage messages and chat room threads

Link messages and threads to specific patients

Tell Nervecentre to send you messages about clinical activities recorded for a specific patient
Most of these tasks you can do from Messaging.
About unread messages
Nervecentre displays in the navigation menu on the left when you have a message that you haven't yet read. Nervecentre doesn’t display for messages marked as 'unread'.
About notifications
When you receive a message, or an update from a chat room, a notification appears on your desktop screen. To view the message or update, select the notification.

Search |
Type to search for messages with that text in the body of the message. You must enter at least three characters to search. Nervecentre doesn't search for messages with that text in the subject of the message. |

Shows the messages or chat room threads for the selected folder or chat room. Different types of message display different symbols. |

Inbox |
Select to view messages in your inbox. |

A count of unread messages appears next to any folder that contains unread messages. |
|
Draft |
Select to view messages you saved as drafts. You can edit draft messages and send them. |
|
Sent |
Select to view messages you sent. |
|
Shared Inboxes |
Select to view messages in shared inboxes. Anyone with access to the shared inbox can view messages in this inbox. |

Shared Folders |
Select to view messages in shared folders. You can move messages to shared folders. Anyone with access to the folder can view messages in this folder. |

Folders |
Select to view messages in your personal folders. You can move messages to your folders. Read more about moving messages to folders Mouseover and select + to create a new folder. |

Displays next to folders that contain messages or updates that have not yet been read. |
|
Chat Rooms |
Chat rooms you can access. Select a chat room to view updates in that chat room. Mouseover and select + to create a named public or private chat room, or join a public chat room. Read more about creating a named private chat room |

Watched Patients |
Select to view a chat room for a specific patient you are watching. These chat rooms are called watch groups. |

Displays next to chat rooms and patients with an update you haven't read. |

Deleted |
Select to view messages you have deleted. |

From Messaging > Message Settings, you can view and manage settings for messaging.
The options you see depend on your permissions.

Types of message
The following symbols can appear next to messages in inboxes and folders.

This message contains a link to the patient's referral. |
