Reconciling, pausing, and stopping arrival medications

You can create a hospital prescription from an arrival medication, reconcile an arrival medication with a hospital prescription, pause an arrival medication during the patient's stay, or stop an arrival medication.

When you:

  • Reconcile an arrival medication with a hospital prescription

The patient's original prescription remains valid, and on discharge, the patient's GP receives a letter with details of hospital care.

  • Pause an arrival medication

The patient's original prescription remains valid, but the hospital might advise the patient and the patient's GP to stop the prescription

  • Stop an arrival medication

On discharge, the patient's GP receives a letter saying the medication was stopped. Depending on the advice from the hospital, the patient's GP might start a new prescription

You can't stop a paused arrival medication.
