Managing episodal prescriptions
You can modify, administer, and stop episodal prescriptions. You prescribe an episodal medication once. Then you can administer the medication multiple times over a set duration.
Your organisation decides which dose sentences are episodal prescriptions.

Select next to the medication to select a medication. Select to clear the selection. You can select multiple medications. |
Medicine |
Shows the name and dose of the prescribed medication. |
Prescriber |
Shows who prescribed the medication. |
Indication |
Shows what condition the patient might have and explains why the patient is being prescribed the medication. |
Administered |
Shows when to administer the next dose, and when the last dose was administered. |
Notes |
Shows any notes made when the medication was prescribed. You can add notes after prescribing a medication. |
Alt |
Shows the highest level of alert shown at the point of prescribing. Double-click to view information about the alert. This information appeared when the medication was prescribed. |
Modify prescription |
Select to modify the prescription. |
Stop prescription |
Select to stop the prescription. |
Administer |
Select to administer the medication. |

From Outpatients > Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Meds.

Select next to the name of the correct appointment.

From Active Episodal Prescriptions, select next to the episodal prescription you want to modify.

Select Modify prescription.

Make changes to the prescription.

Select Modify.

From Outpatients > Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Meds.

Select next to the name of the correct appointment.

From Active Episodal Prescriptions, select next to the episodal prescription you want to stop.

Select Stop prescription.

Select and select a reason.

Optional: add notes.

Select Stop prescription.

From Outpatients > Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Meds.

Select next to the name of the correct appointment.

From Active Episodal Prescriptions, select next to the episodal prescription you want to administer.

Select Administer.

Select an option.
-
To administer a medication, select Give medicine.

To confirm a medication was given, select Confirm given retrospectively.

To confirm a medication was self-administer, select Confirm self-administered.

To record you couldn't give a medication, select Unable to give.
