About urgent and emergency care
Nervecentre Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) covers visits to:
-
'Emergency department' areas, or ED areas
These areas can be in emergency departments, urgent treatment centres, urgent care centres, and minor injury units. These areas handle acute and non-acute medical emergencies, and they have a four hour target.
-
Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)
These areas aim to complete treating patients without a hospital admission or overnight stay. These areas don't have a four hour target.
You can manage patients in UEC from Inpatients.

A visit is any recorded admission or attendance other than as an outpatient. The patient must be discharged or departed before they can be admitted or attended.
For most visits, the patient is at the hospital. For visits to a virtual ward, the patient is usually at home.
More than one visit can sit within an episode of care.

The workflow you follow depends on your organisation.
