Nervecentre V8.1 Help for Users
Creating preadmissions
You can preadmit a patient from Patient Detail > Patient admin > Preadmit. You preadmit when you are expecting the patient to visit the hospital. You can add a preadmission to a new episode of care, or an existing episode of care.
For example, if:
-
A GP called the hospital because their patient needs to be seen urgently
You can preadmit the patient to an emergency department. This creates a new episode of care.
-
A patient attended UEC Urgent and Emergency Care. In Nervecentre, this covers 'ED areas' and SDEC. and there was a DTA Decision To Admit. When a clinician thinks a patient in UEC needs to go to an inpatient ward, they make a decision to admit the patient.
You can preadmit the patient to an inpatient ward as an emergency.
-
A patient has an appointment where the clinician decides the patient needs a procedure
You can preadmit the patient to an inpatient ward for that procedure. You can add this preadmission to the same episode of care as the appointment.
-
A patient attended UEC and was streamed to SDEC Same Day Emergency Care. These areas aim to complete treating patients without a hospital admission or overnight stay. These areas don't have a four hour target.
You can preadmit the patient to SDEC. You can add this preadmission to the same episode of care as the attendance to UEC.
Depending on your organisation, Nervecentre can create preadmissions automatically when it receives information from an ambulance or NHS 111.
