Modifying, missing, or delaying a dose
If a dose is due or overdue and you can't give the dose, you can delay the dose, or record the dose as not given.
If you are the prescriber, you can adjust or omit a current or future dose.

If the next dose of a medication becomes due before the previous dose is given it is shown as Missed? on the MAR Medicines Administration Record. Also known as drug chart. A list of all medication prescribed and administered (given). on a desktop, and on the prescription timeline on a mobile.

Modifying, missing, or delaying a dose on a mobile

Only prescribers can adjust doses.
If you want to change one dose in the prescription, you can adjust that dose. All other doses remain prescribed.
If you want to change more than one dose, consider modifying the prescription.

To adjust a dose:

From your patient list, select a patient.

From Chart, select a prescription.
-
Select the dose cell to be adjusted.
This can be a current or future dose.

Select Adjust dose.
-
Select DOSE QUANTITY and enter or select a dose quantity.
-
Enter any notes.
-
Complete all mandatory fields.
Mandatory fields are marked .

Select Submit.
The adjusted dose is shown in pale grey on the medication chart.

Only prescribers can mark a dose as omitted.

From your patient list, select a patient.
-
From Chart, select a prescription.
-
Select the dose cell to omit.
This can be a current or future dose.

Select Omit dose.
-
Enter a comment.

You can record that a dose can't be given if you can't give the dose now, and you don't intend to give the dose later. If you later need to give a dose that is marked as not given, you can strike out the mark.
You can delay a dose if you can't give the dose now, but you intend to give the dose later.
To record that a dose can't be given:

From your patient list, select a patient.

From Chart, select a prescription.
-
Select a dose showing Due, Overdue, or Missed?.
-
For due and overdue doses, select Unable to give - Omit.
For missed doses, select Dose not given.

Select a reason.
The dose cell is shown as Not given.

If you later need to administer a dose marked as not given:
-
Select Not given.
-
Select Strikeout "Not Given".

Enter a reason.
-
Select OK.
You can now administer the dose.

You can delay a dose if you can't give the dose now, but you intend to give the dose later.

From your patient list, select a patient.

From Chart, select a prescription.

Select a dose that is

Select a dose showing Due or Overdue.

Select Unable to give - Delay.
-
Select a reason.
The dose cell shows Delayed.

To administer a delayed dose:

Select a dose showing Delayed.
-
Select Give medicine.
If the delayed dose is not given before the next dose is due, the cell shows Missed?, and the next dose shows Due.
Details of delayed doses are shown in the events log The events log has details of prescribing, administration and ordering are included. You can access it by selecting a medication name from the MAR or outpatient prescription list. on EPMA desktop.

Select the dose you want to adjust.
This can be a current or future dose.

Select Adjust dose.

Enter a dose quantity.

Enter any notes.

Complete all mandatory fields.
Mandatory fields are marked .

Select Submit.
