Acknowledging referrals

You can choose to acknowledge referrals with the status 'Awaiting triage'. You might acknowledge a referral after receiving all the information a clinician needs to triage the referral. This is optional.

Acknowledging referrals on a mobile

You can't do this on a mobile.

Acknowledging referrals on a desktop

1. Find the patient, or the referral.

   • From  Outpatients > Patient Detail, search for the patient.

   • From  Outpatients > Worklists, find a worklist showing referrals that need acknowledging, and double-click on the referral.

     The worklists available to you depend on your organisation.

2. From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Referrals > Active Referrals, find a referral with the status 'Awaiting triage'.

3. Select the referral.

4. Select Acknowledge.

   If the referral already has a specialty and consultant, the referral status updates to 'Acknowledged, awaiting triage'.

   If not, follow the next steps.

5. Select a specialty.

6. Select a consultant to assign the referral to them.

7. Select Acknowledge.

   The referral status updates to 'Acknowledged, awaiting triage'.
