Adding planned medications
You can add medication for planned intentions, for example, surgery, in advance of a hospital admission.
Adding planned medications on a mobile
You can't do this on a mobile.
Adding planned medications on a desktop

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Meds.
If the patient has not yet been admitted, no ward or bed is shown.

Enter Allergies and Height and Weight in the EPMA banner.

Fields marked are a mandatory part of the admission process.
If you cannot complete them, select Override. Enter a reason. This is auditable.

When a patient has not been admitted, you can only add planned medications.

Select Add planned med.

Add planned medication as you would for a normal prescription.
Read about starting a new prescription
Planned medications appear on Meds > > Planned.

When the patient is admitted, the planned medication can be used to prescribe.
