Viewing and managing a patient's RTT pathways
You can view the RTT Referral To Treatment. The length of time from referral to treatment. pathway associated with a patient's episode of care from Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All. If an episode of care doesn't have an RTT pathway, you can add an RTT pathway.
You can edit and validate RTT pathways. You can add administrative events to an RTT pathway, and validate activities that are part of the pathway.
You can delete an existing RTT pathway, and reinstate a deleted RTT pathway.
Depending on your permissions, you can also view a list of RTT pathways from Outpatients > Manage > RTT Pathways PTL.

Viewing and managing a patient's RTT pathways on a desktop

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All, select an active episode of care with no RTT pathway.
Active episodes of care are highlighted in blue.
Episodes with no RTT pathway show No RTT Pathway.

Select Add RTT Pathway.
-
From the top, select an option.
-
To add a pathway for a referral, select New Pathway.
-
To add a pathway for an inbound inter-provider transfer, select Inter-Provider Transfer.

If you selected Inter-Provider Transfer:
-
Enter the date the referral was made.
-
Enter the ID existing RTT pathway.
-
Enter the ID for the organisation the referral is coming from.

Select the type of pathway.
For example, consultant led, or cancer.

Select the date the pathway starts.
-
Select the initial RTT status for the pathway.
For example, 'First activity (10)'.

Enter any notes.
-
Select Save.

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All, select next to the row of RTT information.

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All, select next to the row of RTT information.

Select Edit pathway details.
-
Select the type of pathway.
For example, consultant led, or cancer.

Select the start date for the pathway.

Enter a reason for editing the pathway's details.

Select Update.

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All, select next to the row of RTT information.

Select Delete pathway.
-
Select a reason for deleting the pathway.
-
Enter any notes.
-
Select Delete.

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All, select next to the row of RTT information.

Select Reinstate pathway.
-
Enter any notes.

Select Reinstate.

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All, select next to the row of RTT information.

Select Add Administrative Event.
-
Enter a date and time for the event.
-
Enter any notes.

Select an RTT status for the event.
-
Select Add.

Open the patient's record.
-
From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All, select next to the row of RTT information.

From Activity, select an activity with the label 'Administrative Event'.

Select Edit Administrative Event.

Enter a date and time for the event.

Enter any notes.

Select Save.

Open the patient's record.

Enter any notes.

You can validate activities on a patient's RTT pathway. Validating activities allows you to check RTT status is correct, check the RTT pathway is on track, and avoid and manage breaches.

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All, select next to the row of RTT information.

From Activity, select an activity.

Double-click in the Val column.

Select an option.
To record that you:

Validated an activity:

Select Completed.
-
Enter the date and time you validated the activity.

Enter any notes.

Select Set Validation Completed.

Are validating an activity:
-
Select In Progress.
-
Enter the date and time you started to validate the activity.

Enter any notes.

Select Set Validation In Progress.

Need to validate an activity:

Select Required.
-
Enter the current date and time.
-
Enter any notes.

Select Set Validation Required.

Select Save.
