Nervecentre V8.1 Help for Users
About observation models
Nervecentre uses observation models to dictate what observations need to be recorded for your patient. These can be automatically set depending upon a location, or manually added depending on your permissions.
Observation models can have different frequencies, escalations, observations and advice messages. Depending on your permissions, you can choose a different observation model.
Here are some examples of observation models:
-
NEWS 2 Scale 2
For patients who have reduced oxygen saturation requirements, for example, patients with a hypercapnic respiratory drive.
-
Blood transfusion
For patients undertaking a blood transfusion. The model might include advice messages for a low blood pressure to stop the transfusion, and additional observations for rigors, shaking and transfusion number.
-
End of life
For patients receiving end of life care. This model has no observation frequency, escalations, and does not generate an EWS Early Warning Score. A vital signs recording and scoring system used with adult patients. The scoring system is designed to identify and alert appropriate staff in the case of deteriorating patients..
-
Minor Injuries Units
For patients receiving care in a minor injuries area of an emergency department. This model has no frequency or mandatory observations to record.
Observation models might be different in your organisation.
