Nervecentre V8.1 Help for Users
Recording collections for outpatients
When you order an investigation for an outpatient, the patient is given a request form. The patient can take this request form to a place that can take a sample, for example, a hospital with Nervecentre, or a GP.
On a desktop, you can record collections of samples from outpatients. You can also record partial collections, and samples that have not been collected.

If an order is not recorded as collected in Nervecentre before the time-out date, then the order is timed out. The time-out date is a set number of days after the required date of collection.
Your organisation can choose when an order times out.
An order might be timed out if:
-
The sample has not been collected
-
The sample has been collected but it was collected at a place that doesn't have Nervecentre
For example, a patient might have their sample taken at a GP.

When taking samples, it might not be possible to obtain all the samples needed for that order. For example, you might be unable to obtain the specified amount of blood needed for all the samples. You might leave that sample aside temporarily and return to it, or ask someone else to take the sample later.
You can record samples as not collected. You must add a reason. Samples recorded as not collected remain as outstanding collections.
