About medication orders for outpatients on a desktop

  1. Select  Pharmacy.

  2. Make sure you are viewing the outpatient pharmacy.

    Depending on your permissions, OP appears in the top right-hand corner if you are viewing the outpatient pharmacy, IP if you are viewing the inpatient pharmacy.

    If IP is visible, select IP. The text will change to OP.

  3. Select Outpatient Orders.

From  Pharmacy > Outpatient Orders, you can view medication orders for outpatients.

Select to search for a patient.

Pharmacy

Select a pharmacy from the list.

Shows the outstanding orders for the pharmacy.

Select a column heading to sort the table.

Ordered

Shows the date and time the medication was ordered.

Collect

Shows the collection requested by the patient. When a clinician asks the hospital pharmacy to dispense a medication, they add the collection time.

Patient name

Shows who the prescription is for.

Ph

Shows if the pharmacist has approved the prescription.

Shows the patient’s details.

Select to view the outpatient prescription list for the patient.

Outstanding Orders

Shows medications ordered for that patient.

Select a column heading to sort the table.

Drug details

Shows the name and dose of the prescribed medication.

Dispense quantity

Shows the amount of medication to be dispensed.

Status

Shows the status of the medication order, and the name of the pharmacy dispensing the medication.

Ordered

Shows the date and time the medication was ordered, and the name of the clinician who requested the medication.

Ph Approved by

Shows the date and time the medication was approved, and the name of the pharmacist who approved the order.

Dispensed by

Shows the date and time the dispensation sheet was printed, and who printed the sheet.

Checked by

Shows the date and time the medication was checked and given the status 'Ready for collection'. Shows who marked the medication as ready to collect.

Actions you can take for outstanding orders.

  • Pharmacy (Un)Approval: select this to approve, or remove approval, from a medication.

  • Print Hospital Prescription: select this to print the dispensation sheet.

  • Ready for Collection: select this to let the patient know the prescription is ready to collect.

  • Collected: select this when the patient has collected the prescription.

  • Reject prescription: select this to reject a prescription.

  • Transfer prescription: select this to transfer a prescription to a different pharmacy.

Completed and cancelled orders

Shows the orders that have been completed or cancelled.

Select a column heading to sort the table.

Collected by

Shows the date and time the patient collected the medication. Shows who marked the medication as collected.

Actions you can take for completed and cancelled orders.

  • Revert to dispensed: select this to return a medication to Outstanding Orders.

  • Reprint: select this to print the dispensation sheet and return the medication to Outstanding Orders.

The outpatient prescription list is a chronological list of prescribed medicines, including outpatient prescriptions and inpatient TTOs To Take Out. Often used to describe the medicines added to the discharge letter, and, informally, the letter itself.. The medications are grouped by the appointment or inpatient stay they occurred within.

  1. From  Pharmacy > Outpatient Orders, select a pharmacy from Pharmacy.

  2. Select to search for a patient.

    Or, select a patient from the list on the left.

  3. Select to view the outpatient prescription list of the patient you selected.
