Discharging patients from critical care
You can discharge a patient from critical care. For example, you might discharge a patient from critical care when:

The patient no longer needs a higher level of care
-
The patient dies
-
The patient is discharged from hospital and transferred to another unit in a different hospital
Discharging patients from critical care on a mobile
You can't do this on a mobile.
Discharging patients from critical care on a desktop

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

For adult patients, select Adult Critical Care Periods.
For paediatric and neonatal patients, select Paediatric Critical Care Periods

Select the critical care period the patient is currently in.

Select Discharge from Critical Care.

Enter the date and time the critical care period ended.

Enter the date and time the patient was ready to be discharged.

From Discharge Status, select an option.
For example, fully ready for discharge, or discharge for palliative care.

From Discharge Destination, select an option.
For example, the same hospital site, or a non-hospital site.

From Discharge Location, select where the patient is being discharged to.
For example, a ward, or a different level of critical care.

Select Discharge.

If you discharged a patient from critical care in error, you can return them to critical care.

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

For adult patients, select Adult Critical Care Periods.
For paediatric and neonatal patients, select Paediatric Critical Care Periods

Select the critical care period the patient was discharged from in error.

Select Undo Discharge from Critical Care.
