Adding and editing specialty changes
You can add, edit, and cancel specialty changes in a consultant episode from Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Inpatient. You can do this during or after the patient's visit.
During a patient's visit, the patient might be under the care of a few different consultants. The period of time under the care of a consultant is called a consultant episode. A patient's visit can contain one or more consultant episodes.
Each consultant has a main specialty, but consultants might have other specialties they cover too. For example, a consultant's main specialty is Paediatrics, but one of their treatment functions Also known as a sub-specialties, or treatment specialties. is Paediatric Ear, Throat, and Nose. During a consultant episode, a patient might be transferred between the different specialties that the consultant covers. These appear as specialty changes in the consultant episode.
Adding and editing specialty changes on a mobile
You can't do this on a mobile.
Adding and editing specialty changes on a desktop

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

Select next to a visit.

Select the consultant episode you want to view the specialty changes for.

Select View specialty changes.

Select next to a visit.

Select the consultant episode you want to add a specialty change to.

Select View specialty changes.

Select Add specialty change.

Enter the date and time the specialty change occurred.

Select a specialty.
The specialties available depend on the consultant for that consultant episode.

Enter the date and time the specialty change occurred.

Select a specialty.

Select the consultant episode you want to cancel the specialty changes for.

Select View specialty changes.

Select the specialty change you want to cancel.

Select Cancel specialty change.

Enter a reason for cancelling the specialty change.

Select Cancel Transfer.
