Pausing prescriptions

You can pause a medication from the prescribe page and from the MAR Medicines Administration Record, also called drug chart: a list of all medications prescribed and administered.. Paused medications still appear on the MAR but are marked Paused and cannot be administered.

A paused prescription remains paused until actively cancelled, or the medication is stopped.

The ability to pause and resume medication is permissions based.

You cannot pause a fluid prescription.

Pausing prescriptions on a mobile

You can pause a prescription in three ways on a mobile.

Pausing a prescription from the prescribe pages

  1. From Patient list > (select a patient) > Prescribe > CURRENT, select a prescription.

  2. Select Pause prescription, enter a comment, and select Pause.

  3. The prescription is paused. To administer the medication, resume the prescription.

  1. From Patient list > (select a patient) > Chart, select a prescription.

  2. Select > Pause prescription, and enter a comment.

  3. The prescription is paused. To administer the medication, resume the prescription.

Pausing a prescription from timeline view

  1. From Patient list > (select a patient) > Chart, select a prescription.

  2. Select a cell for when the prescription should be paused. This can be a current or future dose.

    On Nervecentre for desktop, future dose cells are indicated by a +. On a mobile, future dose cells are empty.

  3. Select Pause prescription and enter a comment.

  4. The prescription is paused. To administer the medication, resume the prescription.

  1. 1. From Patient list > (select a patient) > Chart, select a paused prescription.

  2. Select the dose cell for when the prescription should be resumed. This can be a current or future dose.

  3. Select Resume and add a comment.

Pausing prescriptions on a desktop
From current

  1. You can stop one or more prescriptions for the same reason, from Meds > > Current.

  2. Selecting the medications.

  3. Select Pause prescription.

  4. You can add notes as free text.

  5. Select Pause prescription.

From the MAR by selecting a medication

  1. Select Meds > .

  2. Select the medication.

  3. Select Pause prescription.

  4. Enter and save a reason for pausing the prescription.

  5. The prescription will be paused from the current time. Any overdue or missed doses will remain overdue or missed and can be given late or recorded retrospectively.

From the MAR by selecting a dose

  1. Select Meds > .

  2. Select the required dose cell from a date column. You can select a current (due) or future (overdue) dose.

  3. Select Pause prescription.

  4. Enter a reason for pausing the prescription, and then save.

  1. Select Meds > .

  2. Select a paused cell.

  3. Select Cancel pause.

  4. Enter a reason for resuming the prescription, and then save.
