List of criteria for live queries

Criteria are the building blocks of queries. The criteria you choose changes what the live query returns. For example, you select the criterion 'Age' and enter 18. The query returns patient's aged 18.

Patient lists run against inpatients and ED patients in Nervecentre. Live queries run against all patients in Nervecentre.

In the live flow metric editor, sections appear in the list on the left. These sections include criteria. Some sections include a parent criterion in bold text. If there is a parent criterion, you must add the parent criterion before you can add any refinements.

The available sections and their criteria are listed below. Select a criteria to add it to your query.

Patient

Sex	Returns a list of patients of a specified sex. You can select the sex of the patients.
Gender Identity	Returns a list of patients of a specified gender identity. You can select the gender identity of the patients.
Age	Returns a list of patients less than or greater than a specified age in months or years. You can enter the age.
Hospital Number	Returns a list of patients with a specific hospital number. You can enter the hospital number.
GP Practice	Returns a list of patients registered at a specified GP practice. Each GP practice has a GP Practice Location ID. You can enter the ID.
Is Admitted	Returns a list of patients admitted as inpatients or ED patients.

Patient Visit

Expected Time

Returns a list of patients expected during a specific time or interval.

You can't search for expected patients within the scope of a visit. Select the type Preadmit.

Admit time

Returns a list of patients admitted during a specific time or interval.

You can only search for admitted patients within the scope of their current visit. This includes ED and Inpatient visits. Select the type Visit.

Discharge time

Returns a list of patients discharged at a specific time or interval.

Last transfer time

Returns a list of patients who were last transferred between wards during a specific time or interval.

Last transfer time does not include bed and consultant transfers.

You can only search for admitted patients within the scope of their current visit. This includes ED and inpatient visits.

Returns a list of patients within a specific ward or area.

Admitting Ward

Returns a list of patients admitted to a specific ward.

Campus

Returns a list of patients within a specific campus.

Directorate

Returns a list of patients within a specific directorate.

Area Type

Returns a list of patients within a specific type of area, for example, ED, ICU, or discharge lounge.

Bed area type

Returns a list of patients within a specific type of bed area, for example, side room, chair, or triage.

Careteam

Returns a list of patients under the care of a specific team. This query is deprecated.

Bed

Returns a list of patients in a specific bed or beds.

Bed not set

Returns a list of patients without a bed or bed area.

Patient Class

Returns a list of patients from a specific class.

To query clinical notes, you must first add either Patient Clinical Note or Visit Clinical Note.

Patient Clinical Note	This query searches within all visits. You can also search for patients without a value set for a clinical note. From the query builder, select Patient Clinical Note > Negate. This query is not commonly used.
Visit Clinical Note	This query searches the current visit of all patients. You can also search for patients without a value set for a clinical note. From the query builder, select Visit Clinical Note > Negate.
Note Type	Returns a list of patients with a named clinical note. Note Type is not the same as clinical note 'Data Type', for example, a clinical note might have the data type 'Text'.
Note Value	Returns a list of patients with a specific value entered in a named clinical note. If users can enter free text into the named clinical note, Nervecentre does not partially match the value.
Note Author	Returns a list of patients where the most recent value in a clinical note was entered by a specific person. To set it to the person writing the query, from the query builder, select Note Author > Set to me. To select another user, select Note Author > All users, then enter the name of the person you want to add and search. Select the person from the list.
Unverified Note	Returns a list of patients where the clinical note has a specific verification status. To search for clinical notes waiting to be verified, select Unverified Note then select = Yes. To search for verified clinical notes, select Unverified Note then select = No.
Time Note Set	Returns a list of patients where the most recent value in a clinical note was entered in a specific time period, for example, 'IS TODAY'. View the options for time or interval

Observations

EWS	Returns a list of patients with an EWS greater than, less than, greater than or equal to, or less than or equal to a specific value.
Obs due	Returns a list of patients with due and/or overdue observations.
Obs Overdue	Returns a list of patients with overdue observations.
On Chart	Returns a list of patients on a specific observation model.

Assessments

To query assessments, you must add Assessment and Assessment Type.

Assessment	Select this to start building a query on assessments. You can also search for patients without a saved assessment of a specific type. From the query builder, select Assessment > Negate.
Assessment Type	Select this to name the assessment. Assessments can be partially or fully complete but must be saved. This searches for the assessment label, not the assessment name. The label is the text as it appears to users.
Assessment Due	Returns a list of patients with a specific assessment due.
Assessment Overdue	Returns a list of patients with a specific assessment overdue.
RAG	Returns a list of patients where the outcome of the assessment is RAG rated with a specific value. Only complete assessments receive a RAG rating.
Score	Returns a list of patients where the outcome of the assessment is scored with a specific value or within a range. Only complete assessments receive a score.

Care Plans

To query care plans, you must add Care Plan.

Care Plan

Select this to start building a query on care plans.

You can also search for patients without a care plan. From the query builder, select Care Plan > Negate.

On Care Plan

Returns a list of patients on a specific care plan.

Care Plan Overdue

Returns a list of patients whose care plan is overdue.

Medicines

To query medicines, you must add Prescription.

Prescription	Select this to start building a query on medicines.
Started	Returns a list of patients who started a prescription during a specific time or interval. View the options for time or interval
Prescription type	Returns a list of patients who started a specific type of prescription. You can select the type of prescription, for example, outpatient prescription, inpatient prescription, TTOs To Take Out. Often used to describe the medicines added to the discharge letter, and, informally, the letter itself., arrival medication, planned medication, or episodal prescription.
Prescription status	Returns a list of patients with a prescription of a specific status. You can select the prescription status.
Route	Returns a list of patients prescribed a medication given by a specific route. You can select the route, for example, oral or intravenous.
On VTM	Returns a list of patients prescribed a specific VTM Virtual Therapeutic Moiety. A representation of active medicinal ingredient. Information on indication, strength, dose or administration route are not included.. You can select the VTM, for example, paracetamol.
Dose due	Returns a list of patients with or without a due dose.
Dose overdue	Returns a list of patients with or without a dose overdue.
Pharmacy approved	Returns a list of patients with a prescription awaiting pharmacy approval.
Medicine type	Returns a list of patients with a prescription for a specific type of medicine. You can select the medicine type, for example, antimicrobials.
BNF Classification	Returns a list of patients prescribed a drug with a specific BNF British National Formulary. The BNF aims to provide prescribers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals with sound up-to-date information about the use of medicines. It includes key information on the selection, prescribing, dispensing, and administration of medicines. Medicines generally prescribed in the UK are covered and those considered less suitable for prescribing are clearly identified. classification. You can select the BNF classification.
Controlled drug schedule	Returns a list of patients prescribed a drug of a specific classification, or schedule. You can enter the number for that schedule. For example, to return a list of patients on schedule 2 drugs, such as, morphine, you would enter the number 2.
Review required	Returns a list of patients with a prescription that needs a review from a pharmacist.
Dose required	Returns a list of patients with a dose that is needed.

Medicine Orders

To query medicine orders, you must add Medicine Order.

Medicine Order	Select this to start building a query on medicine orders.
Order status	Returns a list of patients with a medication order of a specific status. You can select the order status, for example, ordered.
Ordered VTM	Returns a list of patients with a medication order for a specific VTM. You can select the VTM, for example, paracetamol.
Pharmacy approved prescription	Returns a list of patients with a medication order that is approved or not approved by a pharmacist.
Time ordered	Returns a list of patients with a medication ordered during a specific time or interval. View the options for time or interval

Lab Orders

To query investigations, you must first add either Lab Order (10 Days) or Lab Order (Needs Review).

Lab Order (10 Days)	You can select this to start building a query on lab orders. The query includes all investigations updated in the last 10 days.
Lab Order (Needs Review)	You can select this to start building a query on lab orders. The query includes all investigations that need review. The query does not include investigations that have reached the never signed state. Investigations reach the never signed state after 28 days.
Order Status	Returns a list of patients with an investigation of a specific status. You can select the status, for example, collected.
Requested by	Returns a list of patients with an investigation requested by a specific user. Includes consultants and non-consultants. You can select the user.
Responsible Consultant	Returns a list of patients a specific consultant is responsible for. You can select the consultant who is responsible for the patients. The user who requested an investigation might not be the same as the consultant that is currently responsible for the patient.
Responsible Specialty	Returns a list of patients a specific specialty is responsible for. You can select the specialty, for example, cardiology.
Collection Service	Returns a list of patients with samples that need collecting by a specific collection service. You can select the collection service.
Required Timestamp	Returns a list of patients with samples that need collecting during a specific time or interval. View the options for time or interval
Abnormal	Returns a list of patients with or without an abnormal result.

Patient encounter

To query encounters, you must add Patient encounter.

Patient encounter	Select this to start building a query on patient encounters.
Encounter Class	Returns a list of patients with a specific class of encounter. You can select the encounter class, for example, Intervention or Appointment.
Encounter type	Returns a list of patients with a specific encounter. You can select the encounter, for example, 'ED Clerking' or 'Medical case notes'.
Date Created	Returns a list of patients with an encounter created during a specific time or interval. View the options for time or interval
Is completed	Returns a list of patients with or without a completed encounter.
Consultant	Returns a list of patients who have an encounter with a specific consultant. You can select the consultant.
Encounter warnings	Returns a list of patients with an encounter in a specific status. You can select the status, for example, 'Letters Awaiting Approval'.
Organism	Returns a list of patients with an infection from a specific organism. You can select the organism, for example, norovirus or salmonella.

Theatre Procedure

If the live query has the Type set to 'Theatre Procedure', you can access the following criteria.

Specialty Code	Returns a list of patients under the care of a specific specialty. You can select the specialty.
Consultant Code	Returns a list of patients under the care of a specific consultant. You can select the consultant.
Procedure Worklist	Returns a list of patients with a specific status for a procedure. You can select the status.
Site	Returns a list of patients at a specific site. You can select the site, for example, a hospital or campus.
Emergency	Returns a list of patients having an emergency procedure.
Cancelled on the Day	Returns a list of patients who had a procedure cancelled on the day the procedure was due to happen.

Appointment

If the live query has the Type set to 'Appointment', you can access the following criteria.

Specialty Code	Returns a list of patients under the care of a specific specialty. You can select the specialty.
Consultant Code	Returns a list of patients under the care of a specific consultant. You can select the consultant.
Site	Returns a list of patients at a specific site. You can select the site, for example, a hospital or campus.
Clinic	Returns a list of patients at a specific clinic. You can select the clinic.
Appointment Worklist	Returns a list of patients with a specific status for an appointment. You can select the status, for example outcome required.
Priority	Returns a list of patients with a specific priority for an appointment. You can select the priority, for example, routine.
Appointment Date	Returns a list of patients with appointments during a time or interval. You can select the time or interval. View the options for time or interval

Encounter

If the live query has the Type set to 'Encounter', you can access the following criteria.

Encounter type	Returns a list of patients with a specific encounter in their case notes. You can select the encounter, for example, 'ED Clerking' or 'Medical case notes'.
Specialty Code	Returns a list of patients under the care of a specific specialty. You can select the specialty.
Consultant Code	Returns a list of patients under the care of a specific consultant. You can select the consultant.

To Specialty	Returns a list of patients with a referral to a specific specialty.
To Consultant	Returns a list of patients with a referral to a specific consultant.
Site	Returns a list of patients at a specific site. You can select the site, for example, a hospital or campus.
Referral Worklist	Returns a list of patients with a referral of a specific status. You can select the status, for example, draft.
Referral Type	Returns a list of patients with a specific type of referral. You can select the type of referral, for example, inpatient referral.
ERS Source	Returns a list of patients with a referral from a specific source. Not e-RS searches for referrals that were manually added to Nervecentre. Advice and Guidance searches for advice and guidance requests from e-RS. Referral Assessment Service (RAS) searches for referrals from e-RS that need to be reviewed by a clinician. Appointment Slot Issue (ASI) searches for referrals from e-RS where a GP couldn't book an appointment. For example, a GP tries to refer a patient to Cardiology and book an appointment. The GP can't book an appointment because the clinic had no appointment slots available. e-RS Direct Booking searches for referrals from e-RS where a GP booked an appointment.
Priority	Returns a list of patients with a referral of a specific priority. You can select the priority, for example, routine.
Original Priority	Returns a list of patients with a referral that originally had a specific priority. You can select the original priority, for example, urgent.
Primary Cancer Site	Returns a list of patients with cancer at a specific site in their body. You can select the primary cancer site, for example, lung.
Referral Date	Returns a list of patients with referrals during a time or interval. You can select the time or interval. View the options for time or interval

Investigations

If the live query has the Type set to 'Investigations', you can access the following criteria.

Responsible Consultant	Returns a list of patients a specific consultant is responsible for. You can select the consultant who is responsible for the patients. The user who requested an investigation might not be the same as the consultant that is currently responsible for the patient.
Requesting consultant	Returns a list of patients with a specific consultant responsible for them at the time an investigation was requested. You can select the consultant.
Responsible Specialty	Returns a list of patients a specific specialty is responsible for. You can select the specialty, for example, cardiology.
Requested by	Returns a list of patients with an investigation requested by a specific user. Includes consultants and non-consultants. You can select the user.
