Starting a patient on fluid balance
You can start a new fluid balance chart for a patient from a mobile or a desktop. Once you've selected the type of fluid balance chart, add inputs and outputs.
Starting a patient on fluid balance on a mobile

From your patient list, select a patient.

From Obs & Assessments, select Fluids.

Select > Start chart.

Select a chart, for example, Fluid Balance Hourly.
Fluid balance immediately becomes due.

Fluid balance charts are unique to a patient’s specific needs. You can add inputs and outputs to support this. For example, you can add a chest drain, or stoma output.
The specific input and output options you see depend on your organisation, and you can rename the options if necessary.

From your patient list, select a patient.

From Obs & Assessments, select Fluids.

Select > Add.

Select an option from the list of input and outputs.
You can enter a new name or keep the existing name.
The new input or output is immediately available to use.

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail , select Clinical.

From Observations, select the row for fluid balance.

Mouseover the row for fluid balance and select ▼ > Start chart.

Select a chart, for example, Fluid Balance Hourly.
Fluid balance immediately becomes due.
