Starting a patient on fluid balance

1. From your patient list, select a patient.

2. From Obs & Assessments, select Fluids.

3. Select  > Start chart.

4. Select a chart, for example, Fluid Balance Hourly.

   Fluid balance immediately becomes due.

Fluid balance charts are unique to a patient’s specific needs. You can add inputs and outputs to support this. For example, you can add a chest drain, or stoma output.

The specific input and output options you see depend on your organisation, and you can rename the options if necessary.

1. From your patient list, select a patient.

2. From Obs & Assessments, select Fluids.

3. Select  > Add.

4. Select an option from the list of input and outputs.

   You can enter a new name or keep the existing name.

   The new input or output is immediately available to use.

1. From  Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail , select Clinical.

2. From Observations, select the row for fluid balance.

3. Mouseover the row for fluid balance and select ▼ > Start chart.

4. Select a chart, for example, Fluid Balance Hourly.

   Fluid balance immediately becomes due.
