Managing medication orders for outpatients
You can manage the approval and dispensing of outpatient medications from the hospital pharmacy.

Dispensing an outpatient medication
You can dispense outpatient medications from the hospital pharmacy. When a clinician asks the hospital pharmacy to dispense a medication, that medication appears on the Outstanding Orders list.

From Pharmacy > Outpatient Orders, select a pharmacy from Pharmacy.

Select to search for a patient.
Or, select a patient from the list on the left.

From Outstanding Orders, select next to the medication you want to dispense.

Select Pharmacy (Un)Approval to approve the medication.
In the Ph column, is shown on a green background to show the medication is approved.

Optional: enter a reason.

Select Print Hospital Prescription to print the dispensation sheet.

When the medication is ready for collection, select Ready for Collection.

When the patient has collected the medication, select Collected.

Optional: enter a note about the collection. For example, you might include who collected the prescription, or if the prescription was delivered to the patient.
Approving a medication
You can approve medications. You can also remove approval from medications.

From Pharmacy > Outpatient Orders, select a pharmacy from Pharmacy.

Select to search for a patient.
Or, select a patient from the list on the left.

From Outstanding Orders, select next to the medication.

Select Pharmacy (Un)Approval.

If the medication is not approved and you want to approve the medication, select Pharmacy (Un)Approval to approve the medication.
In the Ph column, is shown on a green background to show the medication is approved.

If the medication is approved and you want to remove approval, select Pharmacy (Un)Approval to remove approval.

Transferring a prescription to a different pharmacy
You can transfer a prescription to another pharmacy, as long as it is not yet marked as ready for collection. You might want to transfer a prescription to another pharmacy if the pharmacy doesn’t have the medication, or the pharmacy is closing soon.

From Pharmacy > Outpatient Orders, select a pharmacy from Pharmacy.

Select to search for a patient.
Or, select a patient from the list on the left.

From Outstanding Orders, select next to the prescription you want to transfer.
You can only transfer one prescription at a time.

Select Transfer prescription.

Select the pharmacy you want to transfer the prescription to.

Optional: enter a reason.
Rejecting a prescription
You can reject a prescription if is not approved. You must contact the prescriber if you reject a prescription. Nervecentre doesn't notify the prescriber automatically.

The prescription goes to the Completed and cancelled orders list.
